I originally assumed they would be finished in white march but now im pretty sure they will be finished in pillars 2. they all end, but i put quotes around unfinished because there was no climax to anyones story. (It's also thematically one of the best quest endings if you play a priest of Wael ) You can't have clear answers to everything in life, sometimes you just have to accept it and move on. The only quest that is explicitly left unfinished is Eder's - but arguably it is meant to be that way and the lack of a definite resolution is a resolution in itself. They all have their own distinctive endings that compliment the quest's and character's main theme. What ending should a companion quest have for you to consider it "finished"? The companion quests are left unfinished. All fighters get the same options at every level, and same goes for alll classes. Gives the game extra replay value, although it willl be slightly more difficult.īut they literally have no difference in how they level. Then once you understand the game, play with all companions because the banter is a nice touch. I would say if you plan on playing more than one playthrough, it would be nice to have a few inn characters, if not all inn characters so you can see what stats you like and dislike for what classes on your first playthrough. Although he said it in a misleading way, but the only reason to use inn characters over companions is you get to choose their attributes for min/max purposes. I bet that person is talking about the starting attributes not changing. ![]() a difference of 2000 XP, even if you come to Gilded Vale with lots of cash from selling to Heodan. Compare that with hirelings, who are at least one level lower than your main character - you cannot go down much further than approx. And you can retrain them at any inn, too - except for the attributes in addition to the usual things one cannot retrain. Further, when they join the party for the first time, they get the same XP as your main character. Originally posted by Motoko:Stroy compainions are pretty crappy with their leveling.Huh? They are fine and enough to complete the game even on Path of the Damned mode. It sounds like it would be a good idea to play through the first time using the story characters. I'm not worried about the stats and min/maxing stuff, just looking to have fun while playing. Originally posted by smilehigh:Story companions: If you read in some guides that their attributes are suboptimal - don't worry, minmaxing or ultraspecific builds are not required at all to have fun with the game even on the hardest difficulty. That said, story companions do add a certain flavour to your adventures and are totally okay to finish the game with. But it's not that critical if you really like playing with a custom party. The only thing that you'll miss will be party banter and some dialogue interjections or specific reactions. ![]() (For the latter you will have to include them in your party at specific points in the game and travel with them to certain locations but it's totally doable even if it requires a litlle bit of metagaming.) So if you create a custom party you will still be able to exhaust most dialogue options with Story Companions and even do all of their quests. may be referenced by other npcs in dialogue.īUT if you do not include them in your party they will eventually end up in your stronghold where you will be able to talk to them and even do their quests. ![]() comment on your decisions and different situations give you a lot of information on local lore through their specific dialogue (though sometimes these conversations may look more like info-dumps)
